How To Promote Us! Getting an audience in a new location is always a challenge. People usually have lots of choices for entertainment, and perhaps they're not as wildly enthusiastic about Emerald Rose as you are (yet!) But here's how you can help us out. First: Get your friends excited! You shouldn't be doing all the work yourself, you need a "street team" to help visit local record shops, put up posters, make the phone calls. Promise them a KILLER show, and we promise we'll deliver! Second: Call the local radio stations!! Pick a couple you think would play our music (stations that play something besides Britney Spears) and tell them you want to hear some Emerald Rose! When a band sends a station a promo pack or CD, the station often just tosses it (there's a LOT of band wannabe's) but when they hear a name from ten or twenty of their listeners, you'd better believe they get interested! Once a station ASKS for our CD, let us know & we'll send them our promo pack with Bending Tradition. Local airplay gets audiences! Third: Record shops! Have someone pay a visit to the local record stores (independents and chains) and ask if they carry our CDs. If they're interested, get the name of the buyer or store contact, and relay it to us, we'll call them immediately! Let them know there's a gig coming up, plus local radio! Your local New Age/metaphysical shops and bookstores can order our CD through the New Leaf catalog (trust us, they get the catalog...) so let them know they should keep it in stock. It has a pretty cover and looks nice on their shelf ;-) Fourth: Network! Every town has Celtophiles, every town has Pagans, every town has folks that just wanna dance. Ask them if they'd come if we had a gig in town. Use your e-mail and phone lists, and get the "buzz" going. Tell them to visit our website and find out more, maybe sign up to our e-list. Provide us the names/phone#'s of a few "key" contacts and we'll help move things along! Fifth: Press! Our gig should appear in your local "entertainment freebie" magazine, as well as the newspaper and a couple arts publications. We need contact information for these publications! Sixth: Posters! We'll make custom posters announcing our gig, with the date/venue etc. and mail them to you for posting. These should be up at least by the weekend before our gig! Seventh: Enjoy the show, and maybe even plan a post-show party! We aren't exactly shy. Oh yeah, we'll need to work out the Travel Arrangements. |
